Incidence and Susceptibility Patterns of Urine Bacterial Flora in Young Saudi Females

It has been established that the urinary tract is not sterile; however, research related to study of bacteria limited. This aimed investigate frequency and patterns resistance normal aerobic bacterial flora clean catch midstream urine specimens collected from 120 young healthy females cultured. Bacterial identification antimicrobial susceptibility were performed using Biomérieux VITEK® 2 automated system. Participants who had undergone treatment within one month included. The incidence positive cultures was 54.2%, which 21.5% polymicrobial. Approximately 107 isolates encompass 12 genera 27 species predominated by gram-positive (72%) cultivated. Staphylococcaceae (46.1%) Enterobacteriaceae (17.8%) most frequent among gram-negative bacteria, respectively, 36 have identified as β-lactamase producers. top four frequently isolated Micrococcus spp. (16%), Staphylococcus haemolyticus (13.2%), aureus (10%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (10%). Twenty-two subjected testing broad- narrow-spectrum antibiotics antimicrobials, showed lowest rate against followed erythromycin azithromycin. A lower potential observed ampicillin, piperacillin cefotaxime. Our findings emphasize importance highlighting in studies, especially those patterns, employing more advanced culture methods multiple drug-resistant isolated.
